Stand on God's Side
No matter what happens to you, remember to always stand on God's side. Even if things around you go wrong and fail to meet your expectations, God is still good. Even when you don't understand why God allows certain things to happen, remember that He remains good.
God, who is love itself, never changes (Ps. 102:27, Mal. 3:6, Heb. 13:8) and is always good. Only God knows the perfect answers to all hope, so seek Him and listen to His response. Remember that God has no evil plans for you and, as the Light itself, there is no trace of darkness in Him (1 John 1:5). -
Read the Word Daily
Is your daily life busy? We all are. Yet the Bible is the one book that must never be excluded from our daily schedules. Even reading it for just a few short minutes has the power to uplift your day and transform a discouraged soul.
If you encounter parts of the Bible that are difficult to understand, turn to God. Since the Bible is God’s Word, you can ask the Holy Spirit to explain the parts you find confusing. Be patient, as sometimes God’s answers to your questions may not appear until years later. -
Do Not Be Swept Away by Spiritual Deceptions
Practices such as spiritism, tarot cards, and horoscopes are things Christians should never seek or rely on. That’s because someone far greater than these resides in you 24/7. His name is the Holy Spirit, and it was His power that raised Jesus from the dead (Rom. 8:11).
If you’re curious or anxious about the future, ask God who is within you what to expect (John 14:26, John 16:13). Remember that God possesses far more wisdom and knowledge than anyone in the world. -
Make Efforts to Attend Church
Hebrews 10:25 reminds us not to forsake assembling together, as is the habit of some, but to encourage one another, especially as we see the Day approaching. While the COVID-19 pandemic might have adapted us to online worship, now is the time to pray for a return to attending church services in person.
Through in-person worship, we can understand each other’s burdens and bear them together, experiencing the presence of the Lord once again. -
Recognize the Seriousness of Sexual Sin
When we sin and refuse to repent, we distance ourselves from God (Isa. 59:2, Ps. 66:18). In this sense, sexual sin is no different from other sins. However, one key difference is that sexual sin affects our bodies. "...He who sins sexually sins against his own body" (1 Cor. 6:18).
How does maintaining sexual purity protect our faith? The Bible says, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own" (1 Cor. 6:19). Committing sexual sin is akin to continuously accumulating harmful debris in our spiritual bloodstream.
Such persistent sexual sin diminishes our spiritual sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, creating a vicious cycle that makes us more prone to sin.
